Ervin Germany has digitalised logistics operations at its Glaubitz and Sprockhövel facilities with the deployment of Easy WMS from Mecalux. The project was aimed at improving inventory control and operational visibility across two industrial sites handling metallic abrasives for international customers.
The company, the European subsidiary of Ervin Industries, manufactures metallic abrasives including steel shot, grit and stainless steel products used in shot blasting, surface preparation, cutting and cleaning processes. Its products serve industries such as automotive, aerospace, foundry, metal construction and machinery manufacturing.
Replacing manual warehouse processes
Before the deployment, warehouse and inventory processes relied heavily on manual operations, limiting visibility into stock levels and reducing coordination between production and logistics activities.
“Several years ago, we defined our digitalisation roadmap to gain operational visibility, improve efficiency and move forward in sustainability. A warehouse management system is part of this strategy,” said Florian Götz, Director of Innovation at Ervin Germany.
The company selected Mecalux’s Easy WMS because of its scalability and ability to support operations across multiple international facilities. According to Götz, the system met the company’s requirements for integration with its global production and distribution model.
Synchronising production and dispatch operations
The warehouse management system now synchronises production and warehouse information in real time at both facilities. Processed material is packaged, labelled automatically and registered in the system before being stored.
The Sprockhövel site operates primarily as a buffer warehouse using block stacking floor storage, while the Glaubitz facility manages finished goods. Easy WMS controls the movement of products from manufacturing through dispatch at both sites.

Each Ervin Germany pallet is automatically labelled and synced with the software
“With Easy WMS, we know exactly how much stock we have on hand and can respond faster to customer enquiries. Previously, the process was manual,” said Götz.
The company ships metallic abrasives across the European Union and other international markets, mainly through full truckloads, full containers and single-SKU shipments.
Integration with labelling systems
Easy WMS was also integrated with Ervin Germany’s internal labelling system to improve communication between production and logistics teams.
“Our labels include all the information relevant to the system and the operators, who now receive clear instructions to select the correct pallet and load the trucks,” said Götz.
Warehouse operators use Android tablets and Bluetooth scanners connected to the warehouse management system. The company said the use of open Android-based hardware was important to maintain flexibility and avoid dependence on specific device suppliers.
Achieving 99.9% inventory accuracy
Following the digitalisation project, Ervin Germany reported an inventory accuracy rate of 99.9%. The company said the increased precision has reduced human error, strengthened stock control and improved the management of outbound shipments.
The integration of production and logistics into a continuous digital workflow has also accelerated dispatch processes and improved traceability across international deliveries.
According to Ervin Germany, the system has become central to daily warehouse operations, and the company is evaluating the possibility of deploying the same warehouse management approach at additional international facilities as part of its broader digitalisation strategy.
