Anyone who manually loads or unloads dozens of containers each day knows the challenge: heavy cardboard boxes, awkward body postures, and exhausted employees. The portable conveyor systems Destuff-it™ and Restuff-it™ offer an effective remedy — and pay for themselves faster than expected. With these solutions, Schmalz enables companies to achieve three goals at once: higher productivity, improved ergonomics, and measurable cost savings.
Today’s logistics operations demand more than just motivated employees. To boost throughput while reducing physical strain, smart technology is essential. This is exactly what the Destuff-it™ and Restuff-it™ systems deliver. Designed for businesses handling large container volumes, Destuff-it™ supports efficient unloading, while the bidirectional Restuff-it™ loads and unloads freight using the same conveyor belt. Both systems adjust to varying requirements and are particularly effective in tight spaces such as containers and truck trailers.
At the end of conveyor lines, operators use the equipment to sort items while goods are automatically conveyed onward. The systems support professional palletizing of parcels, boxes, bags, and baggage, and are ideal for non-palletized or unsorted loads. With just two containers processed per day, companies can achieve full ROI in under two years. Overtime costs during peak periods are significantly reduced, and dock utilization improves noticeably.
Precision in Every Detail
The moving operator platform can be raised up to 699 mm, bringing workers comfortably within reach of any package — whether located at the bottom of the stack or high up. The fully adjustable system head adapts to all container wall positions. The platform supports 250 kg, while the conveyor transports individual loads of up to 75 kg.
With a 610 mm belt width and speeds of 3.7 m/s, both Destuff-it™ and Restuff-it™ can move up to 2,000 cartons per hour out of the container. Operators manage the system via an easy-access control console. The self-propelled design enables smooth movement between loading docks, and the robust, modular belt ensures quick replacement of wear parts — keeping availability high, even during peak demand.

Safety First
Advanced safety functions protect operators during use. If anything obstructs the system, it detects the blockage and immediately stops the belt before entrapment can occur. Integrated LED lighting improves visibility and minimizes trip hazards. A study by Ohio State University, USA, confirms that these conveyor systems significantly reduce strain on the shoulders, back muscles, and spine compared to manual handling — resulting in measurable increases in employee satisfaction.
