Warehouse Capacity Expansion Strengthens UK Logistics Infrastructure

LTS Global Solutions has expanded its warehousing operations at Hams Hall, Coleshill, adding 17,000 pallet positions within its 130,000 sq ft facility. The project enhances storage density and operational throughput in response to sustained demand for centrally located, compliant warehouse space across the UK.

Context of the Expansion
LTS Global Solutions operates multi-sector logistics services including warehousing, fulfilment, and transportation for retail, food and drink, construction, and automotive customers. Its Coleshill facility is located within the ProLogis park in the UK’s “Golden Triangle,” a region defined by motorway connectivity and proximity to major population centres.

The UK warehousing sector has experienced pressure due to supply chain reconfiguration, nearshoring strategies, and growth in e-commerce. Limited availability of Grade A warehouse space in central locations has increased the importance of scalable, compliance-ready facilities. The expansion addresses this constraint by increasing pallet capacity without relocating operations.

Technical Infrastructure and Responsibilities
The project involved an investment of more than £500,000 in high-density racking systems and associated mechanical handling equipment (MHE). The additional infrastructure increases storage capacity while maintaining aisle configuration compatible with forklift and reach-truck operations.

The site operates an advanced Warehouse Management System (WMS), enabling real-time inventory control, batch traceability, and integration with customer ERP systems. This digital infrastructure supports inventory buffering strategies and structured inbound/outbound scheduling.

The facility holds BRCGS accreditation for storage and distribution and is certified to ISO 9001. It is also registered under HMRC’s Fulfilment House Due Diligence Scheme, ensuring compliance for goods stored on behalf of non-UK sellers. These standards define documented process controls, audit mechanisms, and traceability protocols, which are critical for regulated and fast-moving consumer sectors.

Deployment and Integration
The 17,000 additional pallet positions were implemented within the existing building envelope, avoiding structural expansion. Installation included racking configuration, load testing, and integration with the WMS to update location mapping and inventory logic.

Because the site was already operational, implementation required phased installation to maintain service continuity. Material handling workflows were recalibrated to align with revised storage density and picking routes. The integration process ensured that throughput rates and safety compliance were maintained during transition.

Applications and Operational Impact
The expanded capacity supports sectors requiring compliant ambient and food-grade storage, including retail distribution, food and beverage logistics, and automotive component supply. The additional pallet volume enables faster onboarding of new customers and greater flexibility in managing seasonal or buffer stock.

Operationally, increased storage density within a fixed footprint reduces the need for secondary storage locations, improving transport efficiency and simplifying inventory management. The use of integrated warehouse systems enhances visibility, reduces manual intervention, and supports consistent audit performance.

The expansion forms part of LTS Global Solutions’ strategy to strengthen resilient logistics infrastructure in a high-demand region while maintaining certified operational standards and scalable warehouse operations.
