Bosch At LogiMAT 2026
From March 24 - 26, in Stuttgart, Germany, Bosch introduces a compact high-voltage drive system designed to bring zero-emission power and superior efficiency to heavy-duty forklifts and seaport vehicles.

The integration of high-voltage electrification into the automotive data ecosystem and industrial logistics allows for zero-emission operation in environments previously dominated by internal combustion engines. This transition is supported by a new 800-volt drive system designed to meet the high torque and power demands of heavy-duty machinery while maintaining compact installation dimensions.
Technical Specifications of the 800-Volt Powertrain
The drive system consists of the SMG230 electric motor paired with an inverter utilizing silicon carbide (SiC) power modules. Engineered for system voltages ranging from 400 to 850 volts, the motor provides a continuous power output of 188 kilowatts. Under optimal voltage and thermal conditions, the unit generates a continuous torque of 250 Newton meters, with the capacity to deliver a peak torque of 550 Newton meters for short-term high-load requirements.
At LogiMAT, which took place in Stuttgart, Germany, Bosch Engineering demonstrated how the 800-volt architecture facilitates a significant increase in power density. Compared to 400-volt machines of equivalent mass, the 800-volt motor provides up to 80 kilowatts of additional power. Alternatively, for applications requiring fixed performance levels, the higher voltage allows for a reduction in component weight and volume, simplifying the integration of electric propulsion into existing vehicle platforms with restricted installation space.
Efficiency and Thermal Management through Silicon Carbide
The use of SiC semiconductors in the inverter modules is a critical factor in achieving a system efficiency exceeding 99%. These power electronics enable faster switching operations and steeper switching slopes than traditional silicon-based components. This technical characteristic reduces energy loss in the form of heat, which is vital for maintaining performance during the intensive duty cycles typical of a digital supply chain and port operations.
By minimizing thermal discharge, the system reduces the cooling requirements for the vehicle, further contributing to overall energy efficiency. The safety and diagnostic protocols for the drive are derived from established automotive standards, adapted specifically for the rigorous safety requirements of industrial intralogistics.

Integration and Collision Avoidance Capabilities
The 800-volt system is designed for modularity, functioning in tandem with Bosch Rexroth transmission solutions, such as the eGFV9120 coaxial gearbox. This compatibility ensures that the high-speed output of the electric motor is effectively translated into the high-torque output required for moving heavy containers or industrial loads.
Beyond the powertrain, the drive system integrates with the Collision Avoidance System (CAS), which operates within the open BODAS ecosystem. This safety layer utilizes a sensor fusion of radar, ultrasonic sensors, and intelligent cameras. In the event of a detected hazard, the CAS can intervene directly in the 800-volt drive system to prevent accidents through precise object and person detection, providing a comprehensive functional safety solution for automated and semi-automated industrial environments.
