Hai Robotics Automates Battery Manufacturing Logistics
An integrated transport network connects warehousing and SMT production to support continuous material flow.

Lithium-ion battery surface mount technology (SMT) production requires high material throughput and precise timing to maintain line balance. Manual palletizing and material transfer methods often introduce operational variability, affecting the overall line cycle time.
To address these limitations, Sunwoda automated its internal logistics framework through a collaborative deployment. Longtu Intelligent and Hai Robotics integrated automated guided vehicles, robotic picking systems, and localized control software to establish a continuous material flow between the storage zones and the SMT production lines.
Technical Solution and System Architecture
The deployed solution unifies raw material storage, SMT line-side feeding, and finished goods warehousing into a single digital infrastructure. The hardware architecture consists of autonomous case-handling robots (ACRs) for high-density vertical storage buffer management and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) for horizontal point-to-point delivery. This setup includes specialized lifter robots equipped with a 200 mm low-docking interface, compatible with both chain conveyors and fork lifts to manage material buffers without interrupting operations.
On the software layer, a centralized dispatching system executes real-time global path planning. This software integrates warehouse management with active production demands via data synchronization, tracking material consumption, and inventory status for end-to-end traceability. Incoming electronic components pass through an automated scanning station for information identification before the ACRs transport the bins to calculated storage locations.
Factory Integration and Process Flow
The system manages material routing across multiple floors and production zones:
- Raw Materials: ACRs retrieve requested bins from the high-density racks and transfer them to U-shaped conveyor workstations. Following manual picking, AMRs transport the components to the laser marking and SMT sections.
- Line-Side Supply: Material delivery operates on a just-in-time basis. The dispatch system routes AMRs across different facility floors to match the production rhythm of the SMT lines, reducing line-side bottlenecks.
- Finished Goods: Completed products are collected by ACRs and transferred via overhead track systems for inter-plant and multi-level transport. The warehouse software assigns storage positions based on product weight, batch info, and shipping priority.
Quantifiable Operational Impact
The implementation converted manual warehouse workflows into a data-driven industrial automation system. Factory operational metrics indicate a 300% increase in daily throughput capacity and a threefold acceleration in digital document processing times.
The optimization of material handling workflows reduced annual operational losses and structural maintenance costs. This synchronized production-warehouse model stabilizes the manufacturing cycle by eliminating line stoppages caused by material shortages or component congestion, providing an adaptable framework for battery manufacturing logistics.
